Public affairs professionals now must be aware of how digital advocacy can be utilised to advance policy objectives. To start the day we’ll hear about current digital advocacy trends in Europe and where things are moving.
We often focus on the tools used to deliver information and not what is far more important – the message! In this session we’ll explore how to develop and test messages and how to transform them into content that influences and motivates.
Adam Mouchtar of EU40 will share insights from the #Battle4YourVote campaign where members of the European Parliment teamed up with professional freestyle hip-hop artists in a rap competition on various topics.
Successful digital public affairs efforts often utilize online campaign platforms and constituent management software to maximize their advocacy efforts. No matter what software you use (or even if you don’t use one) we’ll discuss best practices for setting up a campaign platform
In this case study, we’ll look at how the Alliance for Liberals and Democrats for Europe used a campaign management tool (NationBuilder) to build digital capacity, engage their audiences, and drive desired actions.
In this session, we’ll explore a number of ways to stop feeling overwhelmed and start being strategic about your content. We discuss ways to plan your digital editorial calendar, creative methods to generate content, and tips to schedule posts and automate responses.
If a picture is worth a thousand words then a video is worth millions. This session will be hands-on demonstration on how to produce your own short advocacy video for social media using mobile video editing tools.
As part of our hands-on training we’ll break into teams and create a short advocacy video about an important issue that encourages action. We’ll upload to social media and see who gets more shares, likes, and actions.
Are there ways you can position your issue to take advantage of any voter activism or frustration? We’ll take a look into the rise of populist movements across Europe and break down ways you can use their strategies for your issues.
Sometimes the best learning experiences happen over conversations over conversations and cocktails. We invite you to have a join us to network with your fellow training attendees.

ABOUT EU DIGITAL ADVOCACY TRAININGWHAT WILL I LEARN? WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
This event is organised by Beekeeper Group, a digital public affairs consultancy.
We know there are many conferences and learning opportunities in Brussels, why is this one different? In 2017 we organised this training event to be one where public affairs professionals would learn key digital communications strategies and tactics and walk away with actionable ideas on how to apply them directly to their own advocacy work.
We wanted to move away from panels and give each speaker their own block of time to go more in-depth and show details of how their topic is a part of an effective digital public affairs campaign. Each session was designed and developed with key learning objectives that have been identified by your public affairs professional peers. Audience participation is encouraged as we know there will be many experts in the room on any subject and the podium doesn’t have a monopoly on teaching.
Back for its second year in 2018, the EU Digital Advocacy Training agenda includes sessions on:
Making Your Message Relevant
Using Your Campaign Infrastructure to Engage Your Audience
Mastering Content Production and Publishing
Creating Impactful Videos
What Issue Advocates Can Learn From Populists Movements
We’ll end the day with a reception to unwind and continue the conversation. We hope you’ll join us for a day of learning and networking!
